This one was so nice to receive, we just had to share it with you (with the client’s permission, of course!):

I just wanted to write you and tell you how unbelievable gorgeous and delicious the cupcakes were. I had an initial panic when I saw the size of the mini cupcakes – they really are mini! But it was an absolute blessing – our guests were able to sample 3 or 4 different flavors instead of being committed to 1 big piece of desssert. I had initially planned on ordering from Kara’s in the city, but I am thrilled that I found your website and ordered with you instead.  You obviously put so much care, attention and love into your work and it was so appreciated by all of our guests.  The gathering today was a cast party for my parents’ dance ensamble and I catered the event for them.  I normally bake my own desserts but it was a party for 25 people and I was very short on time and reluctantly decided to outsource the sweets.  I cannot express how happy we all were with your lovely, lovely little gems! Could not have done better myself!

Thank you so much,
Janne

Back in business… January 21, 2009

Well after a long and busy holiday season, it occurred to me that we have not updated the blog in…well, months! So just to recap the most recent happenings, we are still baking away and we ARE still in business which means less time for updating this blog, apparently! We enjoyed a little time off to spend with family and friends, but we’re back in action now that the new year has begun. We have a few upcoming weddings and birthday parties, and will get some pictures of new designs up for you soon too – stay tuned!

Margarita Madness September 16, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — cakesncups @ 1:42 am

Well, it was a busy weekend for us – but the most exciting part was the new addition to our always-growing menu…the MARGARITA CUPCAKE! Not only are they adorable, they taste great! We had a client hosting a party with a Mexican theme, so we got the creative juices flowing and came up with 2 new flavors – Margarita, and Mexican Chocolate. For the Margarita, we used a basic vanilla cake, a lime & tequila infused frosting, a colored sugar “rim”, fondant slice of “lime” and a mini straw for the final touch. I must say, we were very happy with how they came out (definitely worth the extra work!). As for the Mexican Chocolate, we used our basic chocolate cake, and for the filling we made sot of a thick, rich, Mexican chocolate ganache – top that off with our rich chocolate frosting, and it was a bite of heaven! The hint of cinnamon in the filling was wonderful, and again, we were loving how they came out!

This next week is going to be a busy one too so I’ll update when I can – on deck we have a private party, a couple baby showers, a child’s birthday…the usual ;)

Getting Started! September 8, 2008

Okay, so we got started on the business a while ago but we are just getting started with this whole blogging thing, so bear with me! To recap and get you all up to speed, we are currently doing delivery-only orders (or you can pick them up but it is so much easier when we bring them to you!) and working out of a commercial kitchen in San Rafael. We are searching for the perfect location to open up our retail store, but until then, you can always call or e-mail orders@cakesncups.com if you’d like to get some more information or place an order. In the works right now, we have a few weddings coming up, which are going to be very exciting – we happen to love doing weddings because it is so great to get to be a part of someone’s special day and we get to excercise our creative freedom!! We were also busy this past week with an office party, a wedding tasting, a birthday party, and a few other things, not to mention still working on getting new pictures together for the website and developing some new flavors which will be added soon!! And this coming week is looking like it will be just as busy for us…so more updates to come!! :-)
